YES, I am a registered NDIS Provider for Therapeutic Supports
You can fix the child to fit the environment or you can fix the environment to fit the child.
Research tells us that the latter is the best approach to supporting children.
I take an environmental approach to supporting teaching professionals, families and children. This means considering the child's strengths, and working with parents and teachers as a team with the goal of creating a supportive environment to help your child succeed academically, behaviourally, emotionally, and socially.
A Functional Behavioural Assessment (FBA) will help you to understand everything about your child's behaviour and what influences it within the context (home, school, community) the behaviour occurs. An FBA offers the best chance of providing a solution to unwanted behaviour. It will provide you with invaluable insight as to why your child behaves the way he/she does, and it will provide evidence based recommendations to help change unwanted behaviour.
I have extensive experience in mental health and special education. I have a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, and I am a current Positive Notice and Blue Card holder. I have worked with parents and teachers of children who have displayed all kinds of behaviours and have significant mental health and developmental difficulties.
