Brief Profile – Jay Beckley, Psychologist

  • I have been working in mental health since 2006.

  • Since 2010 I have been working clinically with people with mild to severe substance use disorders and co-existing mental health issues.

  • I have worked in inpatient mental health and forensic hospitals, prisons, and community settings.

  • I also have an interest in working with people with chronic pain.

 

Qualifications and Credentials

  • Master of Educational Psychology (Honours), Grad. Diploma Arts (Psych) Bachelor of Health Science.

  • I’m a full member of the Australian Psychological Society.

 

Therapeutic Interventions – I am trained in:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy,

  • Motivational Interviewing.

 

Area of Practice

  • Adults with mental health problems that may or may not be exacerbated by substance use.

  • Adults with substance use issues: alcohol, methamphetamine, prescription medication, cannabis.

  • Adults with chronic pain.

 

Location

  • Active Living – 81 Sixth Avenue, Maroochydore – Monday and Friday every week with the capacity to increase from now.

Fees

  • $140.00 for a 50 – 60 minute session. The Medicare Rebate is $84.80. The Gap is $55.20.

 

Concession Rate for Health Card Holders

  • $120.00 for a 50 – 60 minute session. The Medicare Rebate is $84.80. The Gap is $35.20.

 

If a Client is Really Struggling Financially

  • I’m happy to discuss with the client other options to assist them into support. For example, I will Bulk Bill some, if not all sessions. My priority is that your patient accesses quality support. 

 

Referral Process

  • You can refer by fax or through Medical Objects.

  • I will phone the client within 24 hours to complete an intake. This includes a brief intervention. An appointment time will be agreed upon. I aim within two weeks.

  • I will email the client my consent form and DASS21.

  • I will contact you acknowledging the referral and advising of the appointment date.

  • I will communicate with you as required and provide an update after the sixth and tenth sessions.
