Alcohol and Drug Counselling
Sunshine Coast and Telehealth
Evidence-based, non-judgemental support for adults concerned about their alcohol or other drug use
I’m a registered psychologist with 15 + years experience working specifically in providing alcohol and other drug (AOD) assessments and counselling.
Whether your goal is to stop, cut-back, or have a break, having a thorough understanding of your substance use is vital.
We will work together at your pace on your goals.
I offer in-person sessions in Peregian Springs (Sunshine Coast) and telehealth across Queensland and Australia.

Support with Alcohol and Other Drug Use
I provide structured, evidence-based support for adults (18+) who want to change their relationship with alcohol or other drugs — including alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, vaping, and prescription medication concerns.
Together we’ll understand your patterns, identify triggers and cravings, plan for high-risk situations, and build practical relapse-prevention strategies you can use day to day. Many people also want support with stress, anxiety, low mood, or sleep difficulties alongside substance use.
Even “mild” substance use can have a big impact on health and relationships. The focus is on reducing harm and improving quality of life.
I work with adults (18+) on the Sunshine Coast and across Australia via telehealth who are:
-
Using alcohol or other drugs to cope with stress, anxiety, low mood, chronic pain, or life events
-
Not sure if it’s “bad enough,” but noticing changes in sleep, mood, relationships, work or study
-
Wanting to cut back, take a break, or stop — and stay on track
-
Wanting relapse-prevention support after treatment, detox, or a period of change
If you’re unsure whether I’m the right person, we can talk this through in an initial appointment.
Who I Work With
My Experience with Alcohol and Other Drug Issues
I’ve worked in community and inpatient mental health settings since 2006, and have supported people with alcohol and other drug concerns since 2010, including in:
-
Community alcohol and other drug (AOD) services.
-
Inpatient hospital units.
-
Forensic and correctional settings.
This background helps me understand the medical, psychological, legal and social risks that can come with substance use, and to work safely alongside your General Practitioner (GP) and other supports when needed.
How We Can Work Together
I take a non-judgemental, harm-reduction approach. Goals differ — you might want to:
-
Stop completely
-
Cut back
-
Maintain changes you’ve already made
-
Build relapse-prevention skills and a plan that fits your life
We’ll clarify your goals together and develop a plan that fits your life.
Our Work May Include:
-
Exploring and strengthening your own reasons for change.
-
Working with thoughts, emotions and behaviour patterns that influence substance use.
-
Finding the right relapse-prevention strategies by identifying triggers, high-risk situations and warning signs.
-
Support for underlying mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, past experiences, and chronic pain.
