The Full Adjusting to CPAP in 30 Days Course Content
This module helps participants make sense of the first stage of CPAP treatment without feeling discouraged or behind. It focuses on realistic expectations, what early success actually looks like, and why initial discomfort, inconsistency, or frustration do not automatically mean the treatment is not working.
This module focuses on getting through the first week of CPAP use, including what to do on night one and how to approach the early nights without becoming discouraged. It also covers gradual exposure strategies, how to respond when sleep feels difficult, and how to tell the difference between common early reactions and problems that need more attention.
This module focuses on the practical problems that often derail CPAP use in the early weeks, including discomfort, dryness, congestion, pressure intolerance, and taking the mask off during sleep. Rather than providing technical setup training, it helps participants understand what these problems usually mean, how to respond without panicking, and when to seek further support.
This module focuses on the emotional and physical fear responses that can arise when starting CPAP, including feelings of claustrophobia, panic, dread, or wanting to rip the mask off. Participants are introduced to graded exposure, and simple calming strategies to make bedtime feel safer and more manageable.
This module explores the interaction between CPAP and difficulty falling or staying asleep, especially when frustration, wakefulness, and clock-watching start to build. It helps participants respond more effectively when they are awake with the mask on and clarifies when ongoing insomnia may need separate clinical attention.
This module helps participants connect CPAP use to what matters most to them, such as energy, mood, health, safety, daily functioning, or athletic performance. It also focuses on building habits and routines, staying engaged after the initial novelty wears off, and handling the common experience of knowing CPAP is important while still not feeling like using it.
This module addresses the relational side of CPAP use, including embarrassment, self-consciousness, intimacy concerns, and the impact of a partner’s response. It also explores how partners, family members, or carers can either support adherence or unintentionally make adjustment harder, and how to involve them more constructively.
This module brings everything together by helping participants review their progress, make sense of setbacks, and plan for challenges such as travel, illness, disrupted routines, or periods of reduced motivation. It also introduces practical ways to maintain momentum beyond the first month and strengthen longer-term consistency with treatment.
